Is a woman who delivers term twins para 1 or para 2?
Parity represents the number of pregnancies reaching at least 20 weeks’ gestation — not the number of babies delivered.
For this reason:
A woman who delivers term twins after a single pregnancy is Para 1.
Even though two infants were delivered, it counts as one pregnancy outcome ≥20 weeks.
She would be recorded as:
Gravida 1 — Para 1
