Anemia

Iron deficiency remains the most common cause of anemia in pregnancy, but evaluation should also consider hemoglobinopathies, macrocytic anemia, hemolysis, and less common marrow or systemic disorders.

  • Screening and management should distinguish physiologic dilutional change from clinically important anemia.

Sickle cell disease
